My Life Before Islam

Athletic Success: Thanks to his physical skills and speed, Husain achieved a dream that very few people on earth reach: playing in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Searching for Meaning: Despite the fame, money, and massive athletic success, Husain always felt a need for spiritual balance. Amidst the roar of the stadiums and the bright lights, he sought a deeper connection with his Creator.

Parental Influence: Husain was raised with a love for the Quran from a young age due to his mother's influence. However, the major turning point was his realization that faith must be the true driver of his life, not just a set of inherited customs.
The Verse from Surah Ad-Duha: Husain mentions that the verse "And He found you lost and guided [you]" (93:7) had a profound impact on his heart. He felt as if God was speaking to him personally, acknowledging his struggles and granting him guidance and peace.
Sacrifice for Hajj: At the peak of his career, Husain made the courageous decision to leave the NFL for an entire year to perform Hajj with his family. This meant sacrificing multi-million dollar contracts and potentially losing his professional future, but he chose pleasing God over worldly gains.
The Stadium Prostration: Upon returning to the league, Husain scored a crucial touchdown and immediately performed Sajdah (prostration) in the middle of the field. This spontaneous act of gratitude sparked a massive media buzz, introducing millions to his identity as a Muslim athlete.
